Great Phone, Greater Potential

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Large Screen, Qwerty Keyboard, Loads of Apps
Cons: Slightly unwieldy, current version of OS lacks features
Opinion:
The Dream is a great phone already, but with OS updates that are due anytime soon, it will become greater still.

One of the major missing features currently is an on-screen keyboard for quick sms, web browsing etc - the physical keyboard is quite handy for longer mails, but the OSK is sorely missed.

The browser is great, though does not support Google Docs (which would have been a great feature in the absence of an Office application)

Battery life is alright .. could be better, but some minor tweaking of settings lets it last up to 2 days of normal use.

The applications market has some great applications already available, and as more handsets with the Android OS come out, we should see a lot more apps come in.

Support for Java is another feature that will be useful, and will open up 1000's of applications to this platform.

Overall .. good stuff ... Read more

Best phone for those who like to play

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: open source, many great free programs on android marketplace, great invention
Cons: can only access internet via GPRS or wifi, not cable
Opinion:
I have the phone for about 2 weeks, and i would say that if you like to have a phone that have many possibilities, this is the phone to get. Just look at the programs at the android market.

Great phone, endless potential.

Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Linux OS
Cons: Google sending their own apps to iPhone first, they should be G series exclusive. After all it is their own product.
Opinion:
This is a phone that cant be reviewed once, most of the stuff that was missing has since been addressed. Its time for an updated review.

A Techie's great toy

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Open platform, great potential, great browser, great connectivity
Cons: Phone feature lacking, storage limitation
Opinion:
I have owned the HTC dream (retailed by Singtel Mobile, Singapore) for about a week.
I like this phone as a parent like his flawed/unique child. The fact that it is based on open-source platform with thousands of people contributing software makes me believe any problem with usage can be fixed later with upgrade OS/software.

The build-in browser works great, with no problem displaying complex javascript enabled pages, and response is really fast
The concept of toggling between internet connection options has been simplified. You are either on Wifi, 2G or 3G at any moment, and you can toggle between them. Wifi setup is a breeze.
The touch based interface is sometimes a bit un-intuitive, but overall very responsive and easy to work with.
The OS is quite stable. I encountered Android crash once, where the system actually prompted me that "Android crashed" and by pressing "ok" the OS reboots in a few seconds.

Now some negative ... Read more
