Great PDA-Phone
Apr 27, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: wi-fi, bluetooth, 3g, etc... everything thrown in the sink, oh yeah did i forgot to mention the EXTRA BATTERY?
Cons: proprietary port, lack of headphone jack
Opinion:
my 4th day of having this awesome phone and i can tell you it rocks!!!
mine came preinstalled with the latest Windows Mobile 6.1.
the set lasts for like 2 days before charging it, with a lot of messages involved...
tried with wi-fi, device lasted for a day and a half coz' wi-fi drains the phone's battery faster.
what i really hate is the proprietary port for this one... they should've used like a mini-usb for connecting it to the PC.
they should've also included a headset with a headphone jack too... but the included headset's audio quality is great... but i really like using my headphones.
but i can say this is a great product!!!
P.S. new SGH-i780 units are shipped with the new official WM6.1 update.

Pros: Fast download speed
Cons: cannot use wifi for window live. Can't see a thing on screen when under the sun
Opinion:
This phone is equip with wifi, but you cannot operate windows Live with wifi. Windows live will only operate using your GPRS. Yes my friends, meaning you have to pay. Most of the time I'm out of wifi range. I don't mind paying for it in that situation.
This phone you can only surf the net with explorer in wifi. I rely mostly on hotmails. If you surf to home.mobile.msn.com using wifi; you can get to that page but cannot open ur hotmail.Tell me can you be satisfied surf the web on small screen.
My previous pda, dopod 838pro(upgrade to windows mobile 6) let me operate Windows Live using wifi. Yes i get every chance to log on for free wifi. I save alot. This is a conspiracy between manufacture and telco. They design the software so that you have to dial up your GPRS for mails. what the point of wifi on mobile phone.

An EXCELLENT mobile with all the features Samsung can fit in its sexy shell!
Nov 22, 2008Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Integration of WiFi, touchscreen, WM6 Pro and style in one highly capable handset
Cons: 320x320 screen, but I can live with it!
Opinion:
Finally, I got my i780! I've been researching about this phone and comparing it to other WM handsets for quite sometime now. I finally decided that this had the best balance in terms of functionality and features.
I'm very used to WM devices and I love them for their software library and how you can manipulate the OS and set it according to your taste. The possibilities seem to be endless with WM.
I've had one since the O2 XDA II came out. The most recent WM phones I had were the Dopod 838 Pro and the Motorola Q9h. The problem I had with my Dopod was that it was poorly put together and the form factor is just too bland, too common and just plain boring. Moreover, it was very bulky. The Q9h, on the other hand, was sexy. Arguably better looking than the i780, but it just lacked on features. No WiFi, no touchscreen and ... Read more
Great phone if only I could answer calls
Nov 20, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: fast, loaded with features, feels good in hand
Cons: windows mobile
Opinion:
I'm experienced with Windows Mobile phones I owned an MDA before and also many pocket pc's.
I've installed NavNGo IGO gps, Franson GpsGate and many other software, they seem to work fine 70% of the time.
However in my 12 year mobile phone life,I have never experienced a freezing phone. Samsung SGH-i780 and/or Windows Mobile 6 freezes and does not respond... Imagine your phone is ringing, yet the touchscreen does not work, the keyboard doesnt work, the green "Yes" button does not work and you just cannot answer or ignore the call and only look at them! the phone gets locked at least once a day and I have to reset it and wait for restart! This is the state of Windows Mobile today in November 2008. Microsoft should just understand that a mobile phone is a very important part of ones life and it should not and cannot suffer from the mistakes of windows desktop version. ... Read more
