Functions are there, the speed is not.
Jun 3, 2008Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: Has Wifi, Bluetooth, long battery life and charges through USB
Cons: VERY SLOW processor, poor quality camera and no 3G
Opinion:
I think that the slow processor quite ruins everything. I like the fact that it has Wifi and that it charges via a USB cable. However, even though it has Wifi, because of it's slow processor, surfing the internet becomes a chore. The camera is also pretty useless if you want to take a picture of a document for later use. The text in the picture is illegible once you take a look at the picture. One of the things I really like about it is it's long battery life. I can charge it to the max and not use it for the whole week and it would still be alive. However, this phone is nothing compared to the HTC S730. Overall, It is actually a very good phone, all HP needs to do is upgrade it's processor and this would become a 8/10!
Good, cheap Windows Mobile phone
Jan 24, 2008Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Price, form factor, decent set of specs for the price, WiFi
Cons: Slow processor, smallish screen, lack of 3G
Opinion:
For around US$ 300 this phone can't be beat. Has a good set of features, including WiFi and long battery life. Has the WM6 OS, which is very good. Too bad it does not have 3G (though that would raise the price) and the camera quality is not so good. Also, it is a bit difficult to read text on its screen since it is kind of small. But overall, it is not as bad as some might think.
Good phone on its own. Bad company selling the phone.
Dec 18, 2007Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: WM6, Battery, Form factor, plug-anywhere charging
Cons: UNDERPOWERED processor, Language issues for the Starhub version, cramped buttons
Opinion:
This little guy here has a nice traditional candy bar form factor of phones so you can squeeze it into your jeans together with all your mp3s and leave your zen at home.
Batter life is good. I talked 2 hours every night, sms about 30 messages a day, "pushed mail" via ActiveSync once a day and squeezed 3 days of use before I have to look for USB ports to juice him up again (and these USB-port are EVERYWHERE, just like TV-Mobile in Singapore).
Runs WM6 with HP interface. So Word, PPT and Excel comes with it. Nuff said about work on go, if you don't demand too much.
Symbian fans can get used to the UI fast, but lots more of menu-digging to get things done for new users who are used to Nokia Series 40. Programs needs constant killing to free up resources.
Processor a little weak here, maybe to conserve power (hence ... Read more
HP iPAQ 512 at Singapore
Dec 11, 2007Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: Fast
Cons: Not support Chinese character view and input
Opinion:
Last month (No'2007) I bought a HP iPAQ 512 voice messenger mobile which came with Microsoft Mobile 6 standard. They only deliver to me after 2 week. After try out I reliaze I can't view and enter Chinese character!
I had search across various forum and web site, and finally know the reason.
HP iPAQ 512 sold in Singapore is an India Version! That is not able cannot change LOCALE ID to Singapore.
The last 3 digits of the IPAQ512 Product ID should be #UUF for Singpore Version, and not #ACJ which is an India version. This is the reason why all IPAQ512 sold by Starhub and HP Singapore cannot set their Locale ID correctly to display Asian text properly.
Many complaints has been sent to Starhub and HP Singapore, but the product manager DO NOT want to admit his mistake
and replace it with the correct version ... Read more
