Great looks = Sacrifice of functions
Nov 8, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Slim, solid build quality, very stylish, awesome keyboard
Cons: Should have had WinMo 6 professional OS, no wifi, no touchscreen, a little sluggish
Opinion:
This phone would have been perfect if it had Windows Mobile 6 Professional, touchscreen and wifi. Moto also could've done a better job if they just maintained the scroll wheel found on the previous version, the Q8.
Having departed from touchscreen phones (I previously owned a Treo 650, SE P990i and a Dopod 838 Pro), I found this smartphone somehow lacking in terms of the flexibility of the OS. Although it does look way better than any of those stated above, most especially the Dopod which is actually the primary reason as to why I switched to this phone. It fits perfectly in my pocket.
Had Motorola aimed this phone higher than the E71 and instead target those the likes of Dopod/HTC and included all the specs a PDA should have (most especially the wifi and touchscreen), I would have given this phone a perfect 10.
Although despite the lack of those features mentioned above, this ... Read more
Good Business Phone
Sep 2, 2008Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Good voice quality. Solid build. Office application
Cons: Filmsy battery cover, the ear phone is very poorly made, no GPS, battery life abit sub par
Opinion:
Just got the this phone. Compare to my SE C702 & P1i, the Q9h voice quality is noticably better. But the SE C702 has a better camera and GPS.
Motorola is a good basic business phone. The price has came down quite drastically recently. I was deciding btw the Nokia E71 & Motorla Q9h. But the additional $280 could buy me another phone when my contract expires next year. I decided to go for a cost effecient business phone like Q9h.
The Q9h battery life is definitely not a match for the Nokia E71 1500mAhr battery. The saving grace for Q9h is a good keybroad for typing - better than Nokia E71 & SE P1i.
The Q9h offer a good set of business tool like the MS Excel & PDF reader that can allow user to browse some document for quick reference.
But the top quality of a mobile phone is still the voice ... Read more
The best innovation since Razr
May 7, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Super slim, great QWERTY keypad and nice non-slip rear texture
Cons: No touch screen, no Wifi, no scroll wheel
Opinion:
On the whole a very nice smart phone. Only pity is that it's without wifi and touchscreen, if not it'll give the samsung i780 a run for it's money.
Agree with CNET
May 4, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Better QWERTY keypad, quick enough, good design,
Cons: Camera quality, battery life, no copy and paste in sms and email
Opinion:
Agree with CNET... I bought this device last week according CNET review.
ItÂ’s true that Q9h has better QWERTY keypad. If I compared with my last SE P990i, Q9h more efficient to interact with email, sms, etc. Bluetooth worked properly when I sent or received data from my PC also easily browsing even using only GPRS.
Camera 2MP is not better then SE P990i. Even Q9h is easier and quicker to use the camera but relative blur when open in my PC. Also I have not find out to copy and paste in sms, email, and contact number.
Battery should charge every night (caused by not enough for more than 2 day)Â…. Better if having spare battery caused Motorola give for charging battery only without the phone.
A very capable smartphone

Pros: Industry-benchmark keyboard, slim form factor
Cons: No auto keylock, lack of chinese input, no copy & paste feature
Opinion:
I've been using the Q 9h for about a month so far.
As a basic phone it is good, loud & clear speakers even in noisy environments, good reception even on the MRT.
PIM functions like the calendar and contacts sync painlessly with Outlook which i rely very heavily on, so that's a plus for me.
The lack of wifi tho quite noticeable, is not all that big an issue for me because i hardly ever use it - especially if you have an unlimited blackberry data plan that allows u to surf anywhere anytime.
The keyboard is extremely comfortable to use, perfect for emailing as well as sms'ing or msn'ing - though i lament the lack of a cut and paste feature, especially when i am typing emails.
There being no auto keylock is a bit of a nuisance, but that is quite easily solved with the variety of third-party programs available.
