Sep 29, 2008Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: light and slim
Cons: poor keypad
Opinion:
The phone I had pre-iPhone. It still serves as my backup. Slim and light, the way I like it. However, the keys, like in most motorola phones, takes a while to get used to. I'm a very rough user, and it has lost its sticker for the select button (as being the most overused button).
It annoyed me how the playing of music cannot be configured. The music player is only able to play songs alphabetically, or shuffled. This frustration is the main reason why I ran out to seek the iPod nano. Apart from it, I am impressed with how it pairs flawlessly with my bluetooth stereo headset (also Motorola), even while I have the phone in the bedroom and I'm walking around the apartment doing other things.
I like that it has an external display, and the camera does take decent pictures when you want a snapshot taken impromptu. The external control keys are also ... Read more
Not up to the job
Dec 15, 2007Rating: 2 out of 10 (Terrible)
Pros: Solid Motorola construction
Cons: Poor software, can only accept Motorola stereo headset as no jack plug
Opinion:
I purchased one of these three months ago previously having 6 other Motorola models all of which I was satisfied with.
The Text/SMS system on the phone has a fault which Motorola are aware of but have not fixed. If you enter an incorrect character and delete it the phone reverts to upper case ABC1 or ABC2. This I find infuriating.
Also it will not play MP3's with a bit rate higher than 128kbps.
Excellent Phone with very Competitive Features
Jun 28, 2007Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Excellent Sound Clarity; Simple and intuitive UI; great built and Design; Executive looks;
Cons: Camera could be improved to 3.2 mp and has no integrated flash; Could improve on resolution to 16M;
Opinion:
Its an excellent phone. Been using various models from SE, Nokia and Samsung previously. Never knew such a brilliant phone was in the Motorola line up. Lots of improvements from K1 and much better firmware and built from Maxx V6 and V3xx. It balances between what is essential to a phone and what it should have to entertain users.
Motorola has and always been very focused on making reliable and useful phones. Do agree you can get the bells and whistles from Nokia but then again what value does it have when your main purpose of a phone is not met i.e. battery goes flat in 1-day.
Really looking forward to Moto Q9, Razr2 V9 and Z8. Good job Motorola, keep it up as you may just keep the heat on the rest.
