After using for almost 2 years - as problematic as it gets
Apr 11, 2008Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: What can i say? More of a eye candy of a design
Cons: Almost unusable state as it aged >2 yrs
Opinion:
I've been using the O2 Atom for almost 2 years. At first,it displayed minor and irrevelant bugs that didnt affect much of day-to-day usage.
That was then the previous ROM which was preloaded before i upgraded to the newer one(to date) back then.
Now,with the newer ROM - i really have to agree with the users here with their complains of problems and unreliability.
Anyway, with my Atom aging 2 years and up,it's almost unusable for everyday usage.Sometime for some reason the phone can decide NOT to process(sent) SMSes and even calls.
Instead the messages will simply stay in the Outbox folder while the calls are ended abrubtly as soon as u press the green phone icon.
Another user has also encountered this problem.
Then.the OS itself has it's share of glitches - sometime when u soft reset the Atom it cant even boot up properly.
And if u overload the button, the phone will go to "dead" mode ... Read more
Easy to use and nice to look at
Nov 26, 2007Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: All the features similar to the desktop Microsoft with integrated SMS, etc.
Cons: To select the internet connection between Wi-Fi and GPRS
Opinion:
They should have simplified the connections type to the internet, with pop-up for user to select the available wireless connections. Other features are good.
Thanks
Dissapointing on what i thought was a good phone
Oct 25, 2007Rating: 2 out of 10 (Terrible)
Pros: nothing
Cons: ..jury still out but the verdict not looking good
Opinion:
Been having trouble with my O2 Life also Switched it on and it loads to the blue splash screen and does not go any further ... - soft reset - hard reset -- - taking battery out and putting back - call O2 technical support and they said to charge phone? THEN do the rom upgrade... This is wasting a lot of my time. I dont have time to waste trying to sort out problems with a faulty product :( let alone send the phone away by post for repairs to a repair centre and be without a phone. I checked a number of other opinions and reviews on the net and wow! seems im not alone.
Worst phone / PDA I have ever owned - ongoing faults, bad service
Oct 15, 2007Rating: 1 out of 10 (Abysmal)
Pros: none
Cons: constant freezes, requires reset every hour, stops receiving calls for no reason, cannot make calls without reset, service is terrible
Opinion:
I'll keep this short. Do not ever buy this phone, either new or second hand. Even with the mainboard replaced the phone still has same problems.
1) The phone decides every hour or so to stop taking calls without a reset
2) The phone decides every hour or so to stop making outgoing calls without a reset
3) The phone freezes constantly requiring reset
4) I now have to reset phone every hour
5) O2 support is really really bad. You are lucky if you can get through on their service line. Your lucky if they answer your voicemail messages or they even deign to answer your emails.
6) Their advice, if and when you can talk to them, is useless. One piece of advice being not to use and SD card in the phone or load anything, the only thing I could do according to O2 was synchs with Outlook. Hmmm, ... Read more
