The good: Great display; user-friendly controls; a wide range of features including a music player, a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, an expandable memory slot, and support for push-to-talk networks; delivers on performance.

The bad: Memory card slot is an inconvenient location; internal memory is a measly 5MB.

The bottom line: The Nokia 5300 is a well-designed, user-friendly music cell phone that offers an amazing range of features backed up by outstanding performance.

Nokia 5300 is a true music phone.

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Solid music functions; stereo Bluetooth; dedicated music buttons; included headphone adapter.
Cons: Lousy music management software; bulky design; background noise on calls.
Opinion:
It's refreshing to find a music phone like Nokia's snazzy 5300 XpressMusic that actually takes music seriously.

Cheap and good, two thumbs up!

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Sound quality, the build, the looks, lilac option (my fav colour!)
Cons: MicroSD Card placement, echo-like sound when receiving calls
Opinion:
This is yet another fantastic product from Nokia! I pondered long and hard whether to buy it, and only finally laid my hands on it recently. The lilac-coloured option was damn cool! Been some time since I saw a purple phone!

Like as I said, the sound quality for this music phone was fantastic! I use it with a 2GB flash card, and have kept some of my fav songs in it. However, to change the flash cards, one needs to take out the back cover -- a hassle although not too bad since I hardly change the cards anyway.

I think the design of this phone is so obviously aimed at the young or young-at-heart. With such a competitive price tag (I got mine at less S$275!), I think it's a steal. Buy it before it's phased out and replaced by the new XpressMusic models, which are much more expensive.

Good Model, Feature Rich

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Audio Capabilities
Cons: Placement of Memory Card, Tough to open casing
Opinion:
This is one of the "Wows" from Nokia. At 7200 INR (in Chennai), this phone is a steal. 5300 has all the features that one would come to expect in today's phone. It can play a myriad of Audio formats, including MP3, WMA, ACC, eACC+. The Sound Quality is good, considering that this is one area where Nokia phones where laggard-ish. The FM feature produces stereo quality sound. The Camera 2MP is quite decent for daily photos. But hey! this is not the best there is and is not intended to be so!

The User Interface is slick, but can be a bit confusing at times. The placement of SD Card, inside the casing, makes it necessary to open the back cover. This might lead to loosing of the back casing. Further, the journey to open the Back Case is fraught with dangers and obstacles. Unlike the other Nokia models, this one DOES NOT open smoothly.

Overall, a ... Read more
