CNET Asia Review
Excellent
The good: Extremely customizable interface, thanks to HTC Sense; solid construction; good use of materials; 3.5mm audio connector; multitouch in browser; decent battery life. View score
The bad: Certain HTC apps can be slow; slow shutter on camera; unable to accept video calls.
The bottom line: A combination of good design and a fully customizable user interface make the Hero a great smartphone. A boon for the Android platform still in its infancy.

Best Android Phone with HTC Sense!
Jan 9, 2010Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Unbeatable HTC Sense UI, lightweight, sharp reso screen, ultra customisable, fast!
Cons: No bluetooth file transfer
Opinion:
I've used iPhone, then Nokia N85, before switching to my first Android phone and I have never looked back since. The combination of Andriod and HTC Sense is just heavenly. The UI is very intuitive, everything you want to do with a smartphone, you can do it without much learning. And there are thousands of free apps that are easy to install (and uninstall), and still counting!
I've played with the HTC HD2, it's too big in my opinion, very unweldy, and it's WinMo, still can't compare to the smoothness of Android or iPhone. Although HD2 boasts 1Ghz snapdragon, trust me, the actually day-to-day usage is only very slightly faster than Hero, almost negligible in my opinion. You can try loading web page with both at the same time you'll know what i mean.

In the phone arena, it'll soon be Google vs iPhone

Pros: Extremely flexible customisation, tons of FREE apps, sync with Gmail contacts, docs and emails
Cons: Prone to typing wrongly due to small keyboard
Opinion:
Firstly, I'm not an armchair reviewer - i.e., I don't review phones based on specs alone. I've either used or am still using them.
Currently, I own an iPhone 3G S and a HTC Hero.
What I like about the Hero is that, due to the extremely flexible customisable screen, what used to take 2 steps or more to complete an action in iPhone now only requires 1. Practically ALMOST every function in Hero can be just called out with a single shortcut.
For example, to turn on bluetooth (which I do daily because I drive) with iPhone, I need to take 4 steps to do it. With Hero, it only took 1! That's the power of customisation in the Hero.
I also like the clock function where it shows me two time zones in one screen. It's very useful for frequent travellers; when I can see the local and home times together.
