The good: Good image quality; RoadSync for synchronizing with Exchange server; large, vibrant touchscreen; Xenon and LED flashes; great Web browser; bundled Wisepilot navigation software; 8GB microSDHC card.

The bad: Proprietary audio/PC connector; no bundled 3.5mm adapter; inconsistent S60 5th edition user interface.

The bottom line: The Satio delivers great pictures and comes with many high-end features, but the inconsistent user interface of the platform mars the overall experience of the device.

Fantastic camera, good phone, so-so touch interface, poor media player

Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: 95 out of 100 things you want out of a phone are in it
Cons: Resistive Tocuhscreen, lack of Multitouch and media player buttons
Opinion:
Writing this after using for 3 days. 95 out of 100 things you want out of a phone are in it, the user interface takes me quite some time to get used to, considering I own 3 other SE phones before this, abeit each one last me 2 years, I'm skipping 2 generations with each phone change.

Battery life is rather short if you use it to surf, play video or games frequently. The beautiful screen itself is probably a energy guzzler.

This is not an extensive review so I make it brief. The camera is fantastic, not really due to the 12.1MP, but more of the lens, CCD and the xenon flash. Even without flash, nightshots look surprisingly good.

The touchscreen interface can be quite annoying at times. Some may feel the it lacks consistency until you get the hang of it (if it happens at all).

The resistive screen and the lack of multi-touch ... Read more

Disappointed with SE Touch phone

Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: Camera, Video, nice big screen
Cons: Lagging software
Opinion:
I got this phone and have been trying it for a few days and have decided to sell it off. The software lags everytime you go into the menu, software is also inconsistent, sometimes you need to double tap and sometimes one tap. Touch screen is not smooth as it is using resistive touch screen. When texting, the qwerty keyboard is so small that there is no way you can type without errors. You can text by handwriting recognition but you need to use a stylus or fingernails. The Wifi connection is iffy, most times it disconnect by itself and use the GPRS network. Quite hard to set up on your own if you switch to different telco. I am a big fan of SE but besides the excellent video and camera, this is a miss. I am using an Aino now, till their touch screen phones gets better.

User Discussion

Stormrider: ...basically, I see Sony half giving up the mobile phone market already. Samsung JUST launched its 12mp Pixon in here ...
RiGoRmOrTiS: haha i see your point. its a shrewd way of keeping food on the table, but it works.
Zagatos: This phone is coming to late, look at the competition like samsung and lg they have bombarded the market ...
vin8tan: But 3.5mm jacks + walkman phones will cannibalize Sony's sales of their MP3 machines. SE isn't Sony's cash cow, ...
RiGoRmOrTiS: I just don't understand why Sony Ericsson refuses to add a 3.5mm audio jack on their mobiles..especially on this ...
