The bad: Flimsy kickstand; stiff camera shutter; no DivX/XviD support; rudimentary video call camera.
The bottom line: The S60 software may be dated, but it's still one of the best smartphone operating systems for non-touchscreen devices out there. There's no denying that the N86 is a marked improvement over the N85 and will appeal to those looking for an all-rounded handset without emptying their pockets for it.

an all rounder with great looks & design without SHOUTING
Aug 27, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: fm transmitter, great camera, fast response, digital compass (awesome)
Cons: camera shutter button , nokia messaging client bug
Opinion:
pro:
1. solid finish and great multimedia and business tool.
2. i just noticed that now the 'calendar' supports meeting requests ; it will send invitation email to your meeting invitee. i dont remember seeing this feature even on my e71.
3. the digital compass is awesome, it rotates the map to where we're heading. no more left or right fuss!
con:
1. camera button is hard to press
2. messaging with multiple email adresses doesn't show you which folder has new message(s). it's a bug, isn't it?
3. the Instant Messaging (IM) menu is hidden. I have to fetch it from the Help Menu. Hope that it will appear in the apps menu in the next firmware update
Solid yet feature packed with speed. Simply power-packed.

Pros: Speed, crisp and detailed camera imaging, crystal clear AMOLED screen
Cons: Nothing except that the shutter button of the camera is a little stiff
Opinion:
Though I am a long time user of the highly rated Nokia E66, I thought this S60 platform was about the same but I was surprised that it differred a little. Nevertheless, it took only some time to get used to.
The very thing that caught me to this phone was THE AMOLED display which is so much clearer, brighter and less dizzy to view than LCDs. The color gamut is also much richer than LCDs and true.
I did not find there to be any lag by having an email account though some reviewed that with two accounts, the phone lags. I have 4 email accounts in my E66 without a buzz but with this phone I only have my primary email account for now.
The camera is 2nd to none in comparison with other cellphones. I must admit that I have not tried the N82 yet but I believe this 8MP camera is competitive to ... Read more
