CNET Asia Review
Very good
The good: Strong set of features including GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth stereo; 3.5mm audio jack; microSD expansion card slot; bundled in-car charger and holder. 7.4
out of 10View score
The bad: Trackball not sensitive enough in Web browser and map software; no option to search for Wi-Fi connection in Web browser access point setup.
The bottom line: The SGH-i550W has several things going for it, including a strong feature set matched with an attractive price and bundled accessories. But the implementation of both the software and hardware (trackball) has room for improvement.

Good Attempt by Samsung
May 8, 2008Rating: 5 out of 10 (Average)
Pros: Wifi, Trackball, Decent screen size, easy to use interface(Symbian)
Cons: Terrible Battery life, Wifi, 3.2MP Camera with poor flash for taking pic in the dark, conventional design, Cannot sync with MACBOOK.
Opinion:
To begin, i550W comes in an conventionally designed box. Not appealing to me as compared to the presentation used by Nokia, SE and best of all, Iphone. Please make your package more attractive!!!
i550w comes with many standard accessories like headphone, 1GB MicroSD, Charger, 1 Batt only (those who r using will know why i add in the word only), instruction booklet, CD for GPS and PC Suites. So nothing special on these stuff.
I had a hard time getting the GPS to work. I tried activating it but it didn't work. Really do not know what i did and the GPS finally work. It's a Miracle. Searching for a location is quick for me. 1st time using a GPS to help me find my way in Singapore so there's no way for me to compare with other phone models or GPS unit.
On paper, this phone has everything. I like the fact it has WIFI. ... Read more
Great phone BUT.....
Apr 2, 2008Rating: 3 out of 10 (Poor)
Pros: not compatible with Vista
Cons: good solid symbian OS
Opinion:
I just bought this phone from M1 and was eager to use the phone and all its features. After all the set up discovered that the software for PC only operates in XP or Win2000. Called Samsung and all they have is an apology.
I was thinking this phone has been in the market for a while (in other regions) and i am very surprised and disappointed that there is no PC suite softare for Vista.
What is the use of a smart phone when i can't even sync my calendar on my outlook.
Now have to use back my good old N95.. on hindset I should have upgraded to N95 8GB rather than trying out samsung.
Nokia 1 : Samsung 0.
Value for Money - Loving it
Apr 1, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: A Power-pack device, full connectivity, GPS, expandable memory (with my 8GB microSD), trackball (getting use to it, nice feature), slide cover for charging point
Cons: can be even slimmer, color of the phone is too conservative
Opinion:
Great phone after been using it for a week. Full suite of connectivity solutions to meet my needs, now able to connect to WiFi when at home. Pictures taken are pretty sharp, not sure if I can get a Biz card reader apps for it. Save a lot of money with the Navigation kits provided (navigation s/w with 2 country maps, car holder to mount to my windscreen and car charger); a note in the package stated GPS+ (anyway tried with it) and it really helps to get quick GPS fix. Not been using the Malaysia maps, no complaint since this is a bonus! Last 2 models which I have been are Samsung phones, anyway is slowly getting use to the new interface. Got a comment from my friend that the features & functions are like a Nok device??
