CNET Asia Review
7.7
out of 10View score
The bad: Autofocus doesn't work in video mode; no backlight adjustment feature; phone doesn't auto keylock after closing the slider.
The bottom line: The Nokia 6500 slide is an excellent basic camera-phone based on the S40 platform, though some tiny issues prevented it from getting a higher score.

LetDown
Apr 28, 2008Rating: 2 out of 10 (Terrible)
Pros: 3.2 Mega, Stainless Steel Design
Cons: Heavy, Dun appeal to young look, Thick, Bery Besic
Opinion:
I agree the battery is a disappointment. I used the music player for about 2 hours, then I could feel the battery heated up in my hand and it apparently used up half of the battery! Not also that the calling also get heated up. Software hang and auto shut down.. The 4navgation always cannot be press or reach.. It is just a bery letdown on the phone same goes to the N5610.. Completely Upset.. Not recommanded at all....
Good for professionals
Apr 20, 2008Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Nice looking with silver aluminium casing, smooth sliding, good 3.2 megapixel camera, active standby menu
Cons: Slightly heavy, battery run out very fast, no lens cover, no shortcut button for music player
Opinion:
Been using this N6500 for 2 weeks. My previous camera was SE K800i, so I inevitably comparing both of them. N6500 looks more professional with its simple and cool design & material used. The sliding mechanism is very smooth and the keypad is spacious enough for my fingers (yes, i'm a woman). Camera is satisfying. Active standby menu is very useful to create shortcuts. But I don't like its weight. New technology & lithium battery have enabled manufacturers to produce lighter & smaller gadgets. Why this one is still a bit heavy? It's quite bothering since girls already have many things to carry in their bags, and our only last wish is to have a less heavy gadget. The battery is a disappointment. I used the music player for about 2 hours, then I could feel the battery heated up in my hand and it apparently used up half of the battery! Same thing happened when I played a game ... Read more
Good phone with classy executive looks
Mar 13, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Steel exterior, good feel in hands, decent camera with Carl Zeiss lens, good slider mechanism
Cons: Short battery life, little bit slow loading times, no cover for camera lens
Opinion:
After using this phone for nearly a month; I can report that I am quite happy with it. There are some slow loading times especially when opening messages but its not too bothersome.
My mine gripe would be that compared to previous phones I've used, the battery life on the 6500 Slide is rather short - lasting me only about three days with quite light usage (approx. 5 SMSes and 3 calls a day).
The picture quality is quite decent for a camera phone and it has flash and auto-focus. Though of course it still can't be compared to pictures taken with a stand-alone camera.
I would have given this phone a 10 if it came with wifi! But of course it would probably be more expensive and anyways; I bought this phone knowing full-well what I would get and what I wouldn't get.
