Nokia brings Life Tools to Indonesia
MUMBAI, India--Nokia will be launching Life Tools in Indonesia come November 4, making it the first country in Southeast Asia and the second worldwide to get the new service designed for the emerging markets.
The global head for Emerging Market Services at Nokia, Jawahar Kanjilal, told CNET Asia this today without revealing further details.
Nokia Life Tools was first talked about in November 2008. The service is tailored for farmers and rural communities living in remote areas, providing them with information specific to their livelihood and personal enrichment.
The service was rolled out commercially in India on June 12, 2009, after an earlier pilot trial in the state of Maharashtra. The project, with IDEA Cellular as the operator billing partner, started in December 2008.
Four subscription schemes are available in India under the Life Tools program and, currently, three Series 40 devices--Nokia 2323 classic, 2330 classic and 2700 classic--are compatible with the service.
