After using my HTC HD and returning to my Nokia N82 I'll take the Nokia 97 ( and I will very soon). I need a stand by camera when i need it and the camera on the HD sucks. Give me a good camera with flash. Love my Nokias.

I agree with aweysham. But I am still sickened with the lack of a significantly improved camera over the N96 and in face the N95. Who does this in these times? Look at the 8mp and 12mp competition out there. I love the qwerty slideout and the firmer build, but sorry Nokia I will HAVE to skip this one and wait for the next, in fact I may decide to go with the SE (idou?), try harder guys, seriously, it is time to stand apart and above again, if you need ideas write me, I really want Nokia to win these VS challenges hands down.

the highest selling smartphone in 2008 (iPhone) did not even have 3MP camera to brag with, yet its doing very well so why should Nokia develop a market segment (camera) that's not selling?

higher spec camera isn't important anymore in a smartphone, nokia saw this trend for the past 2 years thats why ceased developing this market.

People who REALLY knows about photography knows that megapixel count is not the most important thing to look for in a camera (or camera phone). Why else can a 6 meg DSLR take better pictures than a 12 meg compact camera. Cameras in smartphones can never be as good as that on a standalone camera so having a camera on a smartphone is more a convenience than anything else

aldenone, megapixel isn't everything, all it means is that the picture will be bigger (higher resolution) MANY other things can make the difference in a camera such as lighting, brightness, focus adjustment, camera software, and tons more. So based on that, The Nokia N series are the KING of camera phones. Also, the SE phones main purpose is usually the camera, for the N series they focus on overall multimedia, it doesn't make them a bad thing.

well guys, c what u use the phone for, if u want a camera, seriously, handphone standards are not there yet... its far behind.... thats y htc hd did not put in a good camera, its built not to be a standby camera as phones suck being a standby camera..... touch hd, is designed to outdo the other phones in the industry in terms of visual and touch sensory so its a diff ball game. with a resolution so high on your palm, with a 3.8", with so many other features, its a very versatile companion as it's with u all the time. im sure u ppl dun need to take picture everywhere they go, eg in work, in home, in toilet. its also design for the net so u stay current. but there s always something to sacrifice, to some 5mp cam without flash(led flashes are as good as no flash more than 2-3m away), to some the size( for me its perfectly fine cos i have big hands, any smaller the qwerty keyboard wont work). so it all boils down to userbility, to use it to your money's worth, basically, not paying for somethin n not using it or use it so seldom, rather use the same amount of money to buy a good camera.
anyway, im also looking forward to the n97 launching,... i really like the phone on paper, but would like to get my hands on it to c what can nokia throw at me as i ve been a nokia user for years.

Guys , I need some advice. I m planning to upgrade from N95 to some Smart phone. mostly I need good surfing device. I am in double mind over N97 or HTC or Palm Pre. Plz help.

If you plan on using your device as a micro-pc, take a good look at the 3rd-party software development out there.

Symbian users often have to make difficult hacks to install stuff that's mostly is in Beta. No really great mediaplayer exists for symbian, compared to those for WM6.

WM6 users can install whatever they want and alter the OS as much as they feel like. There is also a great deal of pro stuff to download for WM6, which are mostly free.

As much as i love Nokia for their PHONE capabilities (sms are flying fast on any nokia), I would choose the HTC in this competition for their effort to make a minicomputer with expandable future.
