Sneak peek at HTC's new TouchFlo 3DA big reason HTC's Windows Mobile phones are a league above the rest lies in its custom interfaces. There are two versions of this. One is for entry-level to midrange devices such as the Touch 3G and Touch Cruise, called TouchFlo. The other is designed for higher-resolution screens and bears the name TouchFlo 3D. TouchFlo 3D was first found in the Touch Diamond smartphone and gradual improvements have since been made to the UI. As much as users have lauded TouchFlo for making their Windows Mobile phones more user-friendly and less reliant on the stylus because of the large icons, one complaint still remains: Once you get deep enough into the menus, you still end up with the default (and clunky) Windows Mobile interface. It looks like that's something HTC will be addressing in the upcoming version of TouchFlo 3D. A community member from a prominent Windows Mobile discussion site installed an unofficial ROM onto his HTC Touch HD. This was extracted from one of the upcoming HTC products, either the Touch Diamond2 or Touch Pro2. We got a quick hands-on with the new TouchFlo 3D interface and really liked what we saw. Take note that none of these screenshots and features are official at the moment, so don't expect to see the exact same things when the Diamond2 launches. Also, don't ask us where to get this for yourself. It's unofficial, which means if you try it and brick your phone, you're on your own.
