Prizefight: Motorola ROKR E8 vs. Nokia 5310 XpressMusic

By CNET staff

Judges: Kent German, Bonnie Cha, and Nicole Lee

T-Mobile may be the smallest major carrier, but that doesn't mean it lacks a decent selection of phones. In the past few months the company has introduced two music phones that won our praise. The Motorola ROKR E8 offers an innovative "ModeShift" keypad, a 3.5mm headset jack, and a well-stocked music player that delivers on performance. The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic also brings a nifty music player to the table, but it packages it in a more traditional design. So, which is the better cell phone for listening to your tunes? In the latest CNET cell phone Prizefight we pit the ROKR E8 against the 5310 XpressMusic to see which handset comes out on top.

Let's have a clean fight, fellas. Ding Ding!

About the judges

Kent German covers cell phones at CNET and has been following the wireless industry for six years. He's embarrassed to admit he can name almost any cell phone he sees on the street.

Bonnie Cha reviews the latest smart phones, PDAs, and GPS devices, helping CNET readers get their hands on the latest mobile electronics.

Nicole Lee reviews cell phones and their accessories for CNET, thus satisfying her love for all things small, shiny, and digital.

this review is not relevant to Asia, especially if you're refering to T-mobile's available handset. and there's a lot of Nokia music-oriented handset to compare to the E8. i'm not a fan of music-phones anyway, since the battery life of such gadget drain faster than making it useful for any phonecall..

This is a waste topic, how can you compare a an old Nokia 5310 to a newer ROKR E8. Cnet should think of better topics and comparison.

compare E8 vs Nokia 5320 or 5610.

I totally agree to the remarks given by the other readers. The comparisons here are inappropriate. Should compare with the phones released along the same period or along the same 'class level' of their respective brands. It reminded me of another article that pitted a particular samsung phone against the iPhone.. it was like an egg against rock. Are these articles created in order to favour something?
