Nokia Supernovas: A personal touch

By Damian Koh

HO CHI MINH, VIETNAM--Following the L'Amour and Prism collections, Nokia unveiled its latest range of Supernova fashion phones--the 7610, 7510, 7310 and 7210--that focuses on bold colors, versatility and personal style at a launch event last night.

In his presentation, senior design manager at the Nokia Design Studio Daniel Gratiot talked about taking cues from well-known labels such as apparel retailer Uniqlo and sunwear-maker Ray-Ban in designing the new Supernova collection.

In fact, the original inspiration came from the frames of sunglasses and the reflection of the lenses, which explain the reflective chassis of the phones. Even more unique is the shooter on the 7510 Supernova which was designed to look like the ring flashes that are sometimes used on professional cameras.

The highlight of the show was the 7610 Supernova with the Theme Colorizer feature. This allows the user to tailor the wallpaper color theme simply by capturing the hue using the camera on the phone.

the name doesn't fit well somewhat obsolete styling, though Nokia with its noteworthy 7610 is throwing a mix of bag in the feature-packed but sometimes bland world of handsets.
