Samsung unveils new S60 smart phones
Samsung Electronics has unveiled yet another pair of Symbian Series60 smart phones--the SGH-i550 and SGH-i560--at the Symbian Smartphone Show held in London, UK recently. This announcement comes a week after the SGH-i450 was released. All three smart phones will run version 9.2 of the Symbian operating system.
The main highlights of the new handsets include built-in GPS, 3.2-megapixel camera, HSDPA connectivity and Bluetooth stereo support with the SGH-i550 sporting additional FM radio and a 3.5mm audio jack. According to Samsung Asia, the SGH-i550 is expected to be available in Asia later this year. The SGH-i560, however, will not make its way to our region.
Also on the same platform, but announced earlier last week is the SGH-i450 targeted at the music crowd. The dual-slider phone which resembles the Nokia N95 with its two-way sliding mechanism, appears to veer away from the typical Samsung handset designs in Asia. The SGH-i450 is also powered by ICEpower amplifier developed by Bang & Olufsen, the company which has also worked with Samsung to bring us the Serenata recently.
