LG continues to Shine at CommunicAsia

By Damian Koh

The LG KU250, which was awarded the title of GSM Association's official 3G handset for 2007 earlier this year, is expected to cost "30 percent less than the typical entry-level 3G phone". This will provide more users the chance to experience 3G services in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, according to LG.

At a glance, LG's KU250 looks promising for a low-cost handset and is one that people will actually want to use. The candy-bar model measures only 15.6mm thick, comes with a 1.3-megapixel camera and packs 10MB of built-in memory with a microSD expansion slot. Other than its 3G connectivity feature, the triband handset also sports Bluetooth connection but no Wi-Fi or EDGE. The KU250 is expected to launch in the region from June.

LG Shine (KU970)
Other products highlighted at LG's booth out at the Singapore Expo event include the Shine mobiles (KU970 and KE970), the LG Prada Phone and also the KS10 smart phone that runs on the Symbian platform. The first three phones are currently available in Singapore.

Editors' note:
The KS10 will be available in Asia in Q3 instead of Q4 as reported earlier.

As for the KS10, the smart phone is expected to ship in the last quarter of the year. Notable features on the KS10 will include HSDPA connectivity, 512MB of built-in memory, a 2-megapixel autofocus camera and a front-facing VGA shooter for 3G video calls. At a recent local launch for the Shine mobiles, LG revealed to CNET Asia that the KS10 will come preinstalled with Google Seach, Gmail Mobile and Google Maps Mobile applications.
