SINGAPORE--A range of mobile devices, the launch of a commercial broadcast mobile TV service in Malaysia, and an enhanced localized mobile search application were key takeaways at the annual Nokia Connection held at Raffles City in Singapore today.

Targeted at the midrange market, Nokia's new trio--the 6267, 3500 classic and 6121 classic--tout easy-to-use features and are expected to ship in the third quarter of 2007. As the most feature-packed of the three, the quadband 6121 classic supports HSDPA connectivity, runs on the Series 60 platform and comes with two onboard cameras: A main 2-megapixel shooter and a front-facing lens for 3G video calls. According to Nokia, the 6121 classic will be available only in Australia and New Zealand.

To augment its Nseries lineup, Nokia also signed on key content providers in India, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand to bring enhanced localized search on its handsets. The Nokia Mobile Search application is available as a free download for Series 60 devices, including the E61i smart phone. The new search engine will empower users with relevant local search content, such as looking for a restaurant in a particular country.

Nokia has also entered into collaboration with the MiTV Corporation to bring commercial DVB-H services into Malaysia. This is expected to take place in the second half of 2007 with the Nokia Siemens Networks backing up the technology and infrastructure.
