More Motorola handsets for the emerging marketsThe CTIA Wireless 2007 held in Orlando, Florida, gave Motorola an opportunity to release some new products including four affordable mobile phones for the emerging markets and a new Bluetooth headset.
The quadband W218 has a form factor reminiscent of the SLVR handset. It has an FM tuner built-in for entertainment while other features include speakerphone capability and a VGA camera. Based on the design of the KRZR are the W380 and W385 clamshell models. These two mobile phones have very similar designs, both measuring 18.2mm in thickness and featuring 96 x 32 displays on their covers. The main difference between the two is that the W385 is a CDMA device, while the W380 has a triband GSM cellular radio. The most feature-packed device of the lot is the W395. This one is also based on the KRZR design, but unlike the previous two handsets, the W395 features a 1.3-megapixel camera and a microSD slot for memory expansion up to 2GB. It can also be used as a music player with support for MP3 and AAC files.
The new H680 Bluetooth headset weighs just 12g and is only 41mm on its longest side. It features a hook to secure around a user's ear, and has metal sides and a glossy finish on the front. All of these products are expected to be available in Q3 2007 except for the W218 and W385 which will be available in Q2 2007. Meant specifically for the emerging markets, these products will be launched in some, but not all, Asia Pacific countries. | ||||||||
