Nokia brings Internet connectivity to the massesBANGKOK, THAILAND--While all eyes are on this week's annual 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Nokia has itself held its own event halfway around the globe, unveiling a series of handhelds and its Intellisync Mobile Suite 8.0 to the press.
Following the success of the quadband E61, the E61i goes one step further by throwing in a 2-megapixel camera. This, we felt, is a mixed bag since the E-series is targeted primarily at business professionals. While those who had earlier lamented the lack of a shooter may rejoice, users in more sensitive industries would probably stick instead with the older E61 which also offers 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Both the E61i and E90 run on Series 60 Symbian 9.1 platform and are expected to be available in the second quarter of this year. Hardware aside, Nokia also released its Intellisync Mobile Suite 8.0 which brings wireless email, file and application synchronization on a single platform. Together with the company's E-series devices, the Finnish company hopes this will increase "the potential for businesses to achieve new levels of productivity and competitive advantage". We'll bring you more updates at Showcase Nokia, but for now, here's a quick glimpse of the handsets announced today. | ||||||||
