Nokia refreshes its L'Amour lineup

By Reuben Lee

Nokia's first 3G fashion phone, the 7390
Nokia is clearly in the mood to seduce consumers with a second iteration of its L'Amour collection. Following a global launch that kicked off earlier this week in Dubai, the Finnish mobile giant today unveiled details for the Asia market at a press conference held in Vietnam.

Three new models will augment the L'Amour series, among them Nokia's first 3G fashion phone, the 7390, as well as the 7373, an upgraded version of the earlier 7370. A new Powder Pink 7360 will make its debut together with the premium 8800 Sirocco Edition.

The new L'Amour phones are said to be inspired by the tribal art and ethnic decoration. Like the first L'Amour Collection introduced last year, the upcoming cellulars combine the use of colors with traditional materials and craftsmanship.

The 7390 will sport high-end features comprising a 3-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss lens and integrated flash, a 16-million-color primary LCD display, music player and FM radio. The swivel 7373 will offer a 2-megapixel camera, 262K-color QVGA display and an FM tuner. Both handsets come with microSD card expansion slots.

The 7390 and 7373 will head for Asian shores in Q4 this year, with the new 7360 color variant due earlier in Q3.

The new 8800 Sirocco Edition
Also slated for a Q3 rollout will be the 8800 Sirocco Edition. The second-generation slider-phone will, like its 8800 predecessor, come with exclusive designer ringtones, this time composed by renowned music composer and ambient music innovator Brian Eno.

Named after the Sirocco wind that blows off the Sahara Desert, the new Nokia retains the familiar sleek stainless steel design and sapphire-coated glass display. However, enhancements have been added such as a 2-megapixel camera, a 3D image engine for enhanced graphics, larger onboard memory, a microSD card expansion slot, and dark and light color options.
