3GSM World Congress at a glance

The Korean mobile phone maker certainly made a big impression at this year's 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Spain, with its extensive showcase of handsets that includes the new HSDPA-enabled SGH-Z560 and the M8000 WiBro phones. The company also signalled its intention to be the market leader in the mobile TV space by unveiling seven phones that support the current range of broadcasting platforms, from Terrestial Digital Media Broadcasting (T-DMB) to Digital Video Broadcasting-Handheld (DVB-H).

With industry observers expecting a higher demand for 3G handsets, Samsung plans to roll out 10 new 3G models this year. This includes the SGH-Z150, which the company claims is the slimmest 3G bar-type phone in the world, as well as possibly the world's slimmest 3G clamshell, the Z540.
