Live from 3GSM in Barcelona
BARCELONA, SPAIN--The 3GSM World Congress 2006 (13 to 17 February) this year takes place in Barcelona, Spain, where mobile vendors from all over the world gather to showcase their latest technological breakthroughs and cutting edge products in the cellular industry.
As with previous years, visitors to the event can expect product announcements and collaboration initiatives from the various mobile vendors. However, the buzzword at this year's tradeshow seems to be seamless mobility as can be seen from Nokia's UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) handset and Samsung's WiMAX-enabled phone. Motorola
Motorola unveiled a slew of new handsets at the 3GSM tradeshow including the new slider Razr Z, a mass market model called RDIO and i-mode-enabled L7 and L6 candy bars.
Nokia
With the main focus on the Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) protocol, Nokia announced a total of three handset models which are expected in Q2 2006.
Samsung
In addition to mobile TV, HSDPA and WiMAX handsets, the Korean mobile giant announced a wide portfolio of 3G-enabled cellulars and slim phones at the Barcelona tradeshow.

BenQ-Siemens
The company announced three new handsets under its BenQ-Siemens brand, including what is possibly the world's first High Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA) mobile phone.
Sony Ericsson
Sony Ericsson adds three new candy-bar phones to its 2006 lineup, among which includes a Walkman phone with touchscreen display and onboard 4GB flash memory.
