Hi editorial, why no news on Nokia "Liam"? The successor to the E-61 / E-61i and the one to get for in the business / smart phone category!

    mobilemondaysg says...

How can you guys miss the HP Ipaq 612c in the mobiles phones coming soon ? It is one of the most complete and advanced PDA mobiles. Can somebody please advise when it is likely to be available ? HP guys dont seem to be interested in responding.

    damiankoh says...
Well, we didn't actually miss it. It's just that you were looking at the wrong place. The HP iPaq 612 Business Navigator is in the handhelds channel and will be available in March and the iPaq 912 Business Messenger in June.

How come the announced S60 Touch isn't in the list? It is supposed to be released this year

    damiankoh says...
Hey jhei, that's because S60 Touch is a user interface and not a hardware product, that's why it's not in the list of upcoming devices..

    jhei says...
Okay, I get it. So do you guys have news on when and what models will be available with this interface for 2008 from Nokia? Just curious. :)

    replay says...
Hihi.. any ideas whether SE W980i will be out in sg market ? i can't seems to find this phone in the lists you provided..

    damiankoh says...
Well, the SE W980i is scheduled for a Q3 launch. Exactly when we're not too sure yet and it's a bit too early to tell.. We'll probably have more concrete information nearer to end Q2..

    damiankoh says...
Hey jhei, I'm as curious as you are on which phones will be running on the S60 Touch interface. The problem is, Nokia is usually very tight-lipped about their upcoming products, so even if we know about it beforehand, we won't be allowed to talk about it.. But my speculation right now is, it'll be a totally new range of devices.. Not the E or N, maybe the T?

    jhei says...
I'd have to agree with you Damiankoh in saying that it will be in a new range and that it will have its own name as a series per se. Nokia may be very conscious about keeping the confidentiality of their upcoming mobile phones and their interface but there will always be leakages that would arise sooner than we all expect.

    Q2 2008, page 3 : Samsung G810 > Symbian S30 3rd edition ??

    damiankoh says...
Hey mambo22, yeah the G810 runs on the S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 platform according to the specifications.. Please don't be mistaken that only Nokia phones use Symbian.. :)

    moduFan says...
If the review would have lead up to Q4, You would be seeing modu on this list.

Have you caught the latest buzz on modu?
Read more about it here: blog.modumobile.com

    mambo22 says...
    yes G810 runs on the symbian S60 3rd edition. But in Cnet asia mobile phones coming soon written S30 not S60 . . . . (Q2 2008 page 3)

    kamilerfan says...
I think Nokia Prism 7900 is absolute sheer nonsense and its not the type of phone people are waiting for in the asian market. But yeah!!!good for girls 'coz it has this feminish touch .

    kamilerfan says...
Eagerly waiting for Moto rokr E8 and Samsung Soul. The only two good loiking and better spec fones shown above.

    kamilerfan says...
I already own a Samsung Giorgio Armani phone and telling you honestly if u look it as a phone it is not so productive and not for the tech freaks out there like myself but agood choice for the fashion and brand concious audience.

    damiankoh says...
hey mambo22.. sorry, i must have been blind to miss the S30/S60.. made corrections.. and thanks for spotting!

    vin8tan says...
Sumsung Soul looks really promising. The innovative magic touch D=Pad really makes a lot of sense

Just for everyone's info, I read that iPhone will be coming to Singapore this September, and will be carried by Singtel. It will be offered at around S$690, for those who are considering buying one. Check out this link for more info.

    www.appleinsider.com...

Anyway, I'd still rather buy an iPod Touch and a good phone. ;)

    damiankoh says...
yeah that rumor has been widely reported by several media sites (including us).. but until singtel steps out to say something.. everything is in the air.. at least now there's a date to look forward to..

    AmProfInSeoul says...
    Dear Damian Koh:

Any plans for a prizefight between the IPhone and the Samsung Ultra Smart F700? I really want to see that match-up!

Also, any news on when this Samsung phone might go on sale in Seoul? I really enjoyed your thorough review of the phone and can't wait to get it. In the meantime I will have to get by with my Blackjack.

    Cheers!
    AmProfInSeoul

    damiankoh says...
    hey AmProfInSeoul,

the F700 is expected to be available in Singapore this month, so after we get hold of a review unit, we'll follow up with a prizefight between the iPhone and the F700..

we did a check with Samsung Korea and according to them, the F700 is not available in South Korea and the company don't have plans to introduce it in the Korean market as well.. so I guess you'll have to live with your Blackjack for the time being...

    sauce71 says...
Hey guys , Sorry I know you have probably been asked 1000 times but here is 1001 , when is the iPhone coming to Singapore ... why so long Lah ???

    damiankoh says...
do you want the official answer or the unofficial one? the official one is we are as clueless as you are (apple is not saying anything as usual), while the unofficial one puts it as september, which is when the F1 race is happening..

Oh god......... LG KF510 (as listed under TBC) looks stunning AND so slim plus its casing is made of tempered glass and metal! I really hope they will bring it into SG...

    jhei says...
I've heard that Nokia is a few steps away from finalizing a new handset called Nokia "tube." Any news on its release here in Asia CNET?

    damiankoh says...
nope.. nokia isn't saying anything except that the S60 Touch interface will debut in the second half of the year..

    themin says...
Damian, do you know the SG availability of Nokie E71, SE X1, and Blackberry 9330?

    damiankoh says...
The e71 is not official until Nokia says it is, so there's no knowing when, or if it would ever come to singapore. As for the XPERIA X1, you can pin that down to the second half of this year, at least on official records, though it may come as early as September if you believe in the leaks.

Lastly, do you mean the Blackberry Bold? If it is, then it will be available globally in Q3. I would give it three months, so it's likely to be in August or September here.
