Opinion:
I got this phone about 3 months ago for a price of about 10K in Hyderabad (India).
The phone's functionality is good as per its specifications. Voice quality is okay, sound and the Walkman are good. Talktime is about 4-5 hours and the average backup with 10-15 calls a day and normal multimedia usage is not more than 24 hours.
The worst part is its build quality, the screen display is screwed up in less than 2 months, i took it to the authorized service center and was surprised to see the same model handset with same problem for one in every 2 complaints they had that day.
I spoke to the center manager and he confirmed the fact that this model (W580i) is the faultiest model that SE had produced in the last 2 years. He'd confirmed a fact that 90% of the handsets of this model which come for warranty are due to the display device replacement. The best part is, he'd told me that they've replaced screen hardware for about 600 handsets of the same model in the last 3 months.
The service engineer, who replaced the hardware for me, explained in a little detail technically after some discussion, which i can summarize being a technical person that the build quality is very cheap.
I got it replaced in the 2nd month of the purchase and i got the problem again recently (6th month). Went back to the store and i still hear the same message from the store people. SE should stop producing this model instead of spoiling their reputation.
