User Review for Sony Ericsson K770i Cyber-shot

CNET Asia Review Is Spot On!

Rating: 7 out of 10 (Very good)
Pros: Sleek design, familiar for SE users, good MP3 features
Cons: (Less than) Average picture quality
Opinion:
I bought this phone to replace the K600i that I've had for the past 2+ years. I bought that one as it was the most economical 3G phone I could find at the time, useful for working online when away from home or office. The camera was just there; I hardly ever used it and didn't expect anything spectacular.

Now that 3G features are pretty commonplace in mobile phones, I thought I should add better capabilities for my next phone. The K770i phone fit my budget, and I admit I was influenced by the Cybershot name. With this phone, I thought I could get by without lugging my conventional digital camera all around the place.

At the shop, I was impressed by the quality of the images taken when viewed on the screen. But when I brought the phone home and downloaded them to my pc, I was shocked at the difference. As said in the review, the colour was washed out, the images were less sharp and the camera shake was much, much more visible. However, images taken of subjects that are close the camera are much better than those taken from a distance.

Overall, there are better cameraphones on the market, but of course they are much costlier. You get what you pay for :)

This phone has made me a firm believer that while cramming multiple applications in one device may be a nice feature, be prepared to accept compromises.
