User Review for Sony Ericsson G502
Poor quality phone - SE have tried to cut corners in construction.
Feb 15, 2009Rating: 3 out of 10 (Poor)
Pros: god features and compact size
Cons: Poor manufacturing quality, buggy
Opinion:
I bought this phone in September 2008 - as a loyal SE customer ( my 4th SE phone since 2002). This one has been nothing but trouble. a) the Internet doesnt seem to work despite tweaking all sorts of settings b) the front keys (the wavy end/send) keys started losing their colour and looking like the cheap plastic they are within weeks c) within 3 months the phone started hanging with and "inactive SIM message" I took it to SE service they said there was incorrect soldering and OS problems =- so repaired it. The inactive SIM problem continued to recur, but less often. Then yesterday - the keypad died on me (in a 4 mth old phone). Took it to service, they said that they did not have the part and i may have to wait months and encouraged me not give in the phone but instead go around jakarta to search for a service center thay may have the part. When I told them that in that case I would drop the phone in the dustbin and complain - they changed their mind and have now accepted the phone for repair under warranty and would get back to me in a fortnight.
Even if repaired, this is a buggy phone nade with poor quality materials - in order to catch a good price point. Do not buy it.
The other models we have owned over the year - T610, K618i, W630i etc have all been well priced hard working phones. Not this one
