User Review for Sony Ericsson W980 Walkman

Truly dedicated walkman phone..but nothing more..

Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: Great sound quality, large memory (at least it is for me), motion sensor (used in a variety of ways)
Cons: Lags at times..dislike how fingerprints are easily embedded onto the phone, terrible camera quality
Opinion:
The Sony Ericsson w980 has superb music quality..and it should, considering it's a Walkman phone.. I like the funky light effects that show as the music is being played..though it disappears as soon as your phone goes on standby (with the music still playing). I also like the equalizer since I could really tell the difference as I adjust it according to my preference (there are presets ready, or you could manually adjust it to your personal liking). The FM transmitter managed to get my attention..but I noticed finding the "right spot" is always an issue (for me) when I use the transmitter (hence, I get a lot of crackles or whistling..white noise I think..so I don't really use the transmitter and stick to earphones). The speed is average..lags in some points (e.g. when you search for someone in your contacts by putting in the first and/or following letters). I don't know if it's just me, but my w980 often restarts for no apparent reason..it's kind of annoying. I am quite upset with its camera quality. Sure, it's only supposed to be music-inclined..but they could have at least put autofocus..and it doesn't even have to get a built-in flash(Xenon)..LED would have sufficed. It's a good thing though that I also have the k850i (so I use the other phone for pictures)..but they really should have done those things..I wouldn't even have minded if it were only 2.0 MP as long as it would have some LED and autofocus (I can't live without the autofocus)..otherwise..the 3.2 MP camera just doesn't matter.
