User Review for HTC Touch Cruise
No beauty but Great Product although overpriced!!
Jun 16, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: GPS, TouchCube, tough physical shell, rather light, bundled car-charger and holder
Cons: no-qwerty, slow, no led light, no win 6.1 official upgrade, side volume button difficult to use
Opinion:
After using this for almost 4 months, I can say that I am still quite pleased with the HTC TCruise, enough not to be temped to upgrade to Diamond (we'll see about T Pro though).
The fundamental things that I like are:
1. smooth leveled screen - initiates no stylus mentality, eases touch screen usage, alot!
2. resilient case - although it is somewhat ugly, the TCruise is rather good for rough handling, with soft touch plastic (or is it rubber?) Does not easily get dirty, and will not show much wear and tear(no pealed off coatings etc). Working in a dirty and sumtimes oily workshop, this is very good for me. I am also quite clumsy so ++++
3. Touch cube - a quick shortcut to my dire basic needs, excellent! very much used! (especially after customization)
4. Scroll wheel - Did not have the previous artemis, but now I know why it was famous. Very Vital for a WM phone, helps me speed through many cluttered windows menu's, ease of browsing through contacts. makes the windows experience much more fun than it actually is no wheel phones.
5. Car handle and charger! - Wow, talk about ironic, a chinese/taiwanese made gadget with German plastic accessories (holder not charger). easy to use cruise on the go, Smsin takes some skills, but that I have :P ( I guess the high price was for the german car holder :p)
Annoying things:
1. Slow - I hate laggin OS. I cant stand slow phones, fortunately this thing is still adequate enough speed wise, but for the money I spent on this thing, it should really be atleast 50% faster (regardless of tweaks and custom roms). Should have come with much faster processor. in the 600mhz.
2. Volume button difficult - volume button on the side difficult to use...built quality not good in this area. annoying!
Other than those I mentioned, there aren't any other significant problems, physically they could have made it cooler and perhaps a bit slimmer. Led would have been great, other than that it is a great phone! sorely missing a qwerty, although if hand recog didn't cause scratches to the screen protector I wouldn't.
Compared to other phones offering same features, Tcruise is very high priced.
