Black is Beautiful

Like a few other members, I've been waiting for the black N82 since before Christmas. They finally arrived in Bangkok on Friday, the 9th of May - so I raced home, broke open the piggy bank and picked mine up on Saturday :-)

Same price as the titanium version, 18,900 Baht at Nokia Siam Paragon. First impression right out of the box; it looks a lot like my N73 music edition, both in appearance and function. The menu interface, icons and camera features are laid out exactly the same, with the added goodies that have already been discussed, GPS, wi-fi, etc.

I gave it a thorough work out last night, and it passed with flying colors. It feels solid in the hand. The wi-fi is cool - I tried it out and it connected immediately to the service in my apartment building. Regarding appearance; the front surface is pleasantly smooth, almost glass-like. While the rear cover assembly is plastic, it has been painted with what looks and feels like several coatings of clear laquer - making it look 'richer' than it really is.

The web browser is a joy to use, credit to CNET Asia for getting their weblink into the bookmarks :-) You can even make it a shortcut.

Took a few photos with it this morning and felt pretty good about the results. After playing around with some of the 'other brands' over the past few months, it feels good to be home again. Nokia, for better or worse, is still #1 in my book.
