User Review for Samsung SGH-G800

A good attempt from Samsung to join the Big 5(MP) league, but still a few steps away

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: 5 MP Camera,Sleek and futuristic design.Large text and clear display a bonus
Cons: Underpowered Xenon Flash,Camera options rather limited,Audio output(except Radio) rather soft.Samsung PC Studio rather glitchy
Opinion:
Samsung has done a relatively good job trying to enter the Big 5(MP) league with the Samsung SGH-G800.However,the G800 still have a few steps from being a distinguished Big 5 member,as some of the features are still not top-notch as compared with the big players such as the premium-priced Nokia N95 and the Sony Ericsson K950i

I think i'll list out the bad points here because all the good ones are essentially the same as the review on the 2nd tab above.

The slider for instance,im not sure if it's my set but if u open it at max speed retracting it would take a little more strength since its not very smooth. The problem is not present if u open it in normal speed.]

The Camera flash is rather underpowered, and i put the range around 1.5m or so.More than that it would get dark if u shoot low lighting areas.More for close up shots and portraits in my opinion.
For camera options/extras,it's rather limited - The Dynamic Range function which Samsung claim to improve contrast is only available for Video function, and that itself is not very useful because it can only shoot QVGA resolution.
Image Stabiliser Function cannot be turned on by default(at least for me,no matter how i twiddle the settings) and after saving it will default to Off the moment u quit the Camera.
Camera operation(Frame Rate) will slow if u manually select ISO Speed.

Audio is rather soft too,so i dont think audiophiles will be pleased by this. The radio volume is loud though.

Finally, the Samsung PC Studio which is bundled with the handphone for u to transfer data to and from the PC is rather glitchly.Trying to transfer several photos to the PC resultes in errors twice if u do via Phone Explorer option.
The 2nd day after i installed it for some reason it cannot detect my phone and Multimedia manager cant be detected as well so i had to re-install it.Samsung should use a mini-USB connecter to ease hassle.

At the end of the day, this problems are the few steps away to being a distinguished Big 5 member for Samsung. If this minor problems are solved,i guess the Samsung G800 is a very good competitor to Nokia N95 and SE K850i.
I can say, however that the phone's OS is more stable than the SE K850i and that is another good point.
