User Review for Asus M530w
Good connectivities at a price.
Dec 25, 2007Rating: 6 out of 10 (Good)
Pros: Wifi, 3G and Design
Cons: Less Softwares bundled, short battery lifespan, 2MP Camera, Generally more expensive
Opinion:
Choosing ASUS as my first Smartphone was a tough decision as compared to others.
Major Drawbacks of the phone includes:
(1) Less built in applications than even to normal handphone (not even currency converter?);
(2) Short battery life - really really short life;
(3) The Camera is only at 2MP and the camera processing speed is very slow;
(4) not many goodies included in the retail box (no second battery, no memory card included);
(5) Other than Manual in various languages at their website, ther is no other applications that really developed inhouse for this phone; and
(6) Only 64mb RAM?
Pluses of this phone
(1) Wifi connection and 3G phone;and
(2) Slim design with reasonable tacktile keypad.
The rest of the pluses of this phone including reasonably fast processor, latest Version of WM as well as std port design can be easily outdone by the competition such as Motorola and Samsung. Nokia would probably be on its own leaque due to its adoption of S60 OS.
For first time smartphone user, ASUS had given me mixed feeling. I would expect smartphone doesn't require any user to be smart in searching for applications to be able to use the phone to its 'smart' level.

Honestly, I agreed with you fully. I have purchased this phone from M1 with a 2 year contract. Choosing this is difficult as there is really a lot of other options out there.
I guess you have written all that I want to say. As a first timer, I think it is still a pretty good option cos of the cheaper retal price.
Just my ten cents worth:
1. The buttons has just the right size and tactile. I got fat fingers. I find myself typing lnger sms and emails. The whole phone is slim too.
2. Good connectivity. Wifi, bluetooth.
I get a bluetooth earpiece as such phone is diffi to use while talking. However, sound quality (original phone/ earpiece ) not too good. Always got cut off too. Can't compare to a Nokia.
3. Can download all my emails but attachnment cannot not read properly. Thing the software is too minimal.
4. THe 64 ram is too slow... I find my phone hang often.
Overall, this is still a good budget smart phone for beginner, but I have learned that unless I really need the email, powerful messeging ...else stick to normal cellphone.
For pro looking for a good tool...think need to consider other...
