HTC Hero

awesome

damn...no camera flash... but its definitely one of the best phone yet... wondering if the phone can be used as a modem though... i'm always on the go... and now always connect my mobile phone to my laptop to get internet connection....

Apps on phone memory only?

Is it true that Android allows applications to be installed only on the phone memory and not on a memory card?
If so, how much free space do you think will be available after boot?

Also, Can this be changed by a new ROM update later?

Hero release date

i'm eagerly waiting for this phone, but i guess Singtel will only release it September to coincide with the F1 Race, that means we might get a red version.

finally worthy Android contender against iphone

Looks like a technically better Android phone. But does it have an accelerometer, because in the HTC video, its always on the portrait display position. Does it have a landscape display mode?

Standard Feature

Accelerometer seems to be a stand issued item in a smart phone. Pre "Sense" Android phones already spotted accelerometer. you can get a better hands on www.youtube.com... or visit HTC UK website for the product demo.

Divx/ xvid?

Does it support Divx/ xvid out of the box? If not, any existing apps that add the functionality?

IM WAITING

Im going to wait until either Andriod OS becomes more mature and handsets mature or wait and see the next gene iPhone.

Nope, DivX has yet to release a mobile player for the Android platform. the DivX mobile player is still in beta at this stage, and since Android is an open source, it wouldn't be long before one will be made available.

There are however rumors of the next Sumsung's Android (not I7500) to have DivX playback capabilities.
