Samsung Jet

4 questions.

1)does this phone support word and adobe reader to read files?
2)can pictures be saved from it's internet browser?
3)how's the battery life? (using it as a main mp3/video player)
4)how does not having (much) 3rd party apps affect the user's experience of this phone?

Thanks!

How is it as a ebook reader?

I realize unfortunately, there aren't any ebook apps for it, how is the Jet for reading ebooks in html/ pdf formats?

Hi.. for fellow CNET readers. please check the official forum by Samsung on Facebook (www.facebook.com...) There are plenty of comments posted by Samsung users, in particular if you want to know the problems of this phone. Also good to know the diff between S8000 that is released elsewhere and S8003 for Singapore and problem with it.

hi, the Jet does not support word nor pdf. The lack of apps means, for me, that i can't do much with it beyond the usual - camera, making calls, sms, video. Thats about it. Even the music, u can't do a drag and paste from your PC. As for games, forget it. All the games are on trial basis, and to really play anything meaningful, you have to purchase,

As for internet access, you can't go much beyond the first main page., After that, it hangs.

It's really a pity, because the Jet is so so sensitive, due to its fast processor. It could have challenged the iPhone, but the apps really let it down. I loved its design as well.

so if you are going for a skin deep beauty with no brains, this is it. If you want a more intellectual partner, this is not it. Hope i aint too brutal :-)

Hmmm

Fairly brutal, but still useful. Not getting it till Q4 '09 at least, so hoping firmware will stabilise it by then. How about html only ebooks?

i think the Omnia II could be a better bet than Jet. I didn't have a chance to own the Omnia II, but i did try it out briefly at one of the telco showrooms. It's got Windows Mobile and that lets u do more with apps. But more powerful apps also mean it will consume more battery, and more memory, thus making it slower and the battery may need to be charged more often.

If you are not buying till Q4, let the prices run down abit, scout around and monitor the Omnia II reviews.
:-)

did you say "OFFICIAL" a forum under facebook? is samsung that cheap that they can't even create a support profile for their product? I dont think that is an official forum.

I would recommend user ekusonas to check the facebook forum for comments from other users. You don have to sign up for Facebook to read the comments posted.
