HI there! i actually bought the phone for my wife the same day u posted for a review of samsung s5233 or (star). i only used for about 3 hours coz my wife wants me to teach her how to go about the menu since she's not used to touchscreen phones.Upon using it, i felt that the touchscreen is not responsive and fast as the iphone or touch. sometimes it's slow for my preference but that's all the bad news out there. then its all good news. the interface is good and very user friendly as they say. the screen is bright, while audio and video is 8/9 respectively. which is good when going side by side with samsung omnia that costs more than double the price of s5233(star)
maybe that is all i can say coz my wife won't let me borrow it again. she kind of liked it already. she said its a great phone, camera and multimedia player in one.
hope this would help. oh, before i forget, there's no video call on this one.

Very good phone

Hi I purchased this phone a week before. It is superbly good phone. Playing Video is just like it playing in any computer or TV - amazing quality. Audio is also good, very easy to navigable menu. Calling functions are very good, phone book search is bit messy though good.I can't compare the touch sensitivity with iphone or nay of that kind coz I never used one. Anyway in my experience it is good, but comparison with that kind of phone is meaningless as price of iphone is 3 times higher and I know some features like blue tooth is not present in iphone(you know my boss does have an iphone so it is not advisable to having phones of same price for employee and employer ha ha). Only problem I felt is , you can't take pictures in lesser brighter places, as the night mode doesn't make any difference at all.
One important thing is, please do not use the pouch come with the phone, it already spoiled the rear side of my phone - created scratches.
The final conclusion is it very good value for money...

Hi! I hope your Star (3G) is the same as the one i have. Here goes. You can either make it to silent mode or (go to menu/settings/phone profiles/) press which profile you are using. ex: normal then press (>>) at the right side and since its default is incoming, you can change the ringtone, alert type, volume, etc. if you want to change the message and phone sounds, just press the combo box at the top right side (which is incoming) then select which alert you want to change.
Hope this could help.
Good luck
