What else is new?
Jul 7, 2008 09:37 PM
I've been reading a lot about the upcoming iPhone 3G. About the price, the specs and everything. I'm just wondering whether it will be worth it to change your first generation iPhone (if ever you already have one) to iPhone 3G?Or like me who still doesn't have an iPhone because I decided to wait for the 3G instead, to just settle for the first generation? I already got so confused reading a lot of stuffs about it that I don't know whether or not to buy an iPhone or buy a Blackberry instead.
Gosh.. all this hype for what?

My goodness... Are people lacking in perspective or taste? Or worse, both. This device is a full iPod, but half-a-mobile-phone. You guys have proven it time and again that the interface is good, we know! But what about basic phone functions?.... What people said are advanced functions of phones are these days, basic phone functions that are included every phone... well... except the iPhone or the iPhone 3G

Do u need to upgrade to iPhone 3G?
Jul 25, 2008 08:06 AM
Are u surely going to take a 3G plan? Then you can CONSIDER buying one from Singtel. But mind that in singapore, its available now in sim lim square. (1950SGD+++ )
I guess that even if Singtel is sellin the phone, we will surely have to shed lots of dollars, atleast 600$ for 2 year plan.
(That advertising of iphone 3G price from USD 199, has just created fatal attraction)
If you have iphone 2G, then you can consider upgrading to OS version 2.0 ONLY AFTER PROVEN JAIL BREAK. I remember reading a blog that 2.0 is jailbroken.
I went yesterday to get iPhone 2G but its not available in the market. Alert me if u know a place where i can get iPhone 2G in singapore.
Philippine Carrier released iPhone plan details

www.iphone3g.globe.com.ph...They have prepaid kits at 41,899Php for the 8GB variant, 48,899 for the 16GB variant. First 1000 units get 1,000php off.
Uber expensive, price seems illogical for a "fad" phone compared to feature packed competitors from HTC, Sammy, SE and Noke
iPhone not the best phone, probably just the best iPod
Aug 22, 2008 12:23 AM
The iPhone is just a basic 3G phone, period. Darkmax is right. All the hype is for nothing more than 3G and GPS, and for the same cost you can get some high-end do-it-all phone, say an NSeries for example. But if you already have an iPhone (1st gen or 3G) then good for you. The Multi-touch UI is no doubt revolutionary and it IS (for me) still THE best touch UI ever to date, and same goes to the mobile web surfing experience. And don't forget the iPod part, plus all the cool apps. The iPhone is a cool entertainment mobile platform: it's an iPod where you can make phone calls and send SMS, play games like in a PSP (I was never a PSP fan), and maybe find your way when you get lost with its A-GPS. To me it's just an iPod++.By the way, a little heads up for some of us: Singtel is now selling iPhones as of a few minutes ago (12:01am today) at the Singtel Comcentre and will be available on all Singtel hello! shops by 25 Aug. Prices and plans, you can refer to the previous posts. Just in case, here's the link:
