Is the HP iPAQ 914 Good Enough to Wait for?
Sep 12, 2007 10:19 PM
I am in need, and great desire, to own a great PDA Phone. I've been looking at a lot of the offerings and the Dopod 838 or the HTC TyTN-II look really good, and I can get them right now in Phuket. The HP iPAQ 914, on paper at least, looks better - in a form factor that I really like and good specifications. Now I'm having to make a decision...should I get the 838 now, or wait for the 914?Anybody have any advice or suggestions?

i think you should wait for the HP iPaq 912 BM.... just my opinion coz' since 838 pro's been replaced by HTC TyTnII... i think the 912 BM will be a good device since the specs are good especially the battery cap... the downside of the 912 is it's screen. only 2.46 inches, close to my Canon Powershot S5 IS' screen (2.5 inches)Where is the 2nd camera??

I do agree with the small screen size but comparing with the weight of TyTN II, the name really speaks for itself....heavy duty dude! So I can compromise and don't mind getting this phone for a change, besides I never own a HP PDA before. However, the only concern I have now is the 2nd camera, where is it? On the image, I don't see any front camera, don't tell me is another "Palm" failure to include a 2nd camera and you call this a 3G phone?
Anyway, for all you fans of HP out there and if you really want to follow this product; please visit the HP UK site as they have already put up this phone under 2 model number 914 and 914c (With integrated camera) with oricing as well in GBP.
Lastly, if given choice I will get my hands on the all new Samsung i780. It's thinner and lighter, also the i780 comes with the all new mini mouse pad. Ain't that kewl or what?!! But of course, currently the i780 is still a phantom product. Only time will tell whether Samsung can win my heart again.
the brochure's out already!

HP Singapore sucks in product marketing & updating product information!
Oct 13, 2007 05:13 PM
It is not that I have anything against HP Singapore but I strongly believes that HP products are superior in many ways. They always did a very good job in meeting customer needs.Unfortunately for HP Singapore, the did a very lausy job in promoting HP products, comparing to international HP sites; I always seen the marvel of coming soon product being displayed. As a consumer, I would know that there is an upcoming product and it trigger my instinct to hold on to my money and wait for this new product to launch.
But for HP Singapore, there is no such thing as coming soon product. Despite many times I have raised my concern to the Singapore HP, they don't bother into improving their marketing campaign. That is why, I seldom own HP products because other competitor get to me first by their new product teaser.
A good example is this 914BM, till today there is still no news from HP Singapore. They are either too proud having tought that all HP customer might be loyal or just simply do not care about anticipating in customer needs.
HP Singapore, if you are reading this you better do something with your marketing campaign. Although I may be only a one for now but I believe there are many who share the same views as me.

i agree that HP has a good reputation in their service centers but is the service that bad in HP singapore? i've been in HP Philippines service center in makati and they have superb service(i went there to let them see what's wrong with my printer),i was even informed that both the 912c and 612c will be available here in the Philippines some time in December.i'll be in singapore on december to see if what you said was right (coz gadgets are more cheaper in Singapore compared here in the Phils...)... :P
i hope both the 912BM and 612BN will be available by that time....
HP Singapore - Marketing Sucks!

Yes,I totally agree with you. And I think one of the main reason is that the folks in HP Marketing Singapore has been there for too long. The have no energy, no passion and no ideas.
They probably hire their own type of people.
And, when the oursource some of their markeitng, they even hire the same horrible outsource vendors. Cannot believe it!
It's time for a change.
Where is the HP iPaq 912/914 Business Messenger
Mar 19, 2008 01:19 PM
I looked at HP Singapore, Australia and US websites and can find no mention of the 912/914 product. has it disappeared?I gather it was released and saw the PDF brochures from an earlier post. I like the config of the Moto Q9h except that it offers no WiFi. The HP has all the connectivity options, albeit it's 50% thicker than the Moto.
