No volume on the speakers for my Dopod 818

I recently lost volume for both the ringing phone and the window media for my DOPOD 818. I have tried all I could to make the volume work on both the phone and media without success.Is there anyone out who can help me figure out the problem and how I can fix it ?.
I will appreciate any feed back from anyone.
