		LG's CES coverage LG extends Blu-ray lineup at CES LG unveils ambitious home A/V plans

LAS VEGAS, USA--In line with the company's aggressive home A/V plans for this year, the Korean chaebol has unveiled 12 new series of TV panels (nine for LCD and three for plasma), and claiming six world's first technologies for its lineup.

The company's LH90-series (LH90 and LH95) LCD panels are being touted as the world's slimmest LED-backlit TV with local dimming technology, while the premium LHX and LH85 offerings deliver what LG claims is the world's first wireless 1080p full-HD technology to reduce cable clutter.

Smoother video images are also said to be achieved by the world's first 240Hz LED-scanning (also known as TruMotion 240Hz) technology found in the LH90, LHX and LH55-series. The Korean chaebol said this allows the three panels to achieve 2ms response time, supposedly the world's fastest response time on an LCD TV.

LG's collaboration with Yahoo! for its Widget Service is seen as a first, too. This service is available on both the LH50 and PS80 which also offer streaming from Netflix and YouTube and access to Flickr photos via LG's Ethernet-based NetCast Entertainment Access utility. (This is currently available in the US only.)

To complement its global green initiative, the company has introduced several eco-friendly features in its 2009 TV lineup. These include the Intelligent Sensor which is said to reduce power consumption by up to 73 percent compared with older models without this feature. Its new LH30 series of panels also claim to have the world's lowest power consumption, using up to 80 percent less energy than other LCD TVs.

Also noteworthy is LG's use of Super In Plane Switching (S-IPS) panels (which provide better images even at extreme viewing angles) for its latest TV range, as well as a new Picture Wizard function to help consumers calibrate their set for optimal images.

The company was unable to confirm at press time which of the panels would ship to Asia.
