Philips' HDTV scores with LEDs

Blu-ray player

On a separate note, the Dutch company has finally decided to bring in its long-belated Blu-ray player for our region. Though the Profile 1.1-only BDP7200 is able to support some of Blu-ray's advanced interactive features, this has been overshadowed by newer Profile 2.0 models such as the Sony BDP-S350. Similarly, the BDP7200 will output high-resolution Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD surround sound through HDMI in bitstream format. What it does lack is matching onboard audio decoding for these formats to go with legacy home theater systems. We were informed that two updated models are slated for launch in the second half of 2009.
