First Take
When Pioneer announced its exit from the plasma TV business earlier this year, many industry observers believed the panel technology was reaching its end and other manufacturers would be expected to follow suit soon after. Almost an all-rounder
Nov 26, 2009Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Stunning HD quality with THX option
Cons: No VieraNet feature (like those in US/Europe/Japan) and poor SD quality
Opinion:
When this Viera was first released in Hong Kong, I hesitated to wait for price reduction but after reading positive reviews from USA and UK, I decided to splurge on it.
The HD reproduction on HD-DVDs and Blu-ray discs is simply astonishing and detailed. Despite unfavorable comments on greenish tint in various aspects (US reviews), patient fine-tuning via disc-based or Spyder alternatives will help bring out the finesse in this diamond. Like any TV, its ultimately up to individual preference on brand, price, features and others. I personally like Panasonics on price and features though Pioneer Kuros are the best Plasmas money can buy. This Viera V10 (in Hong Kong)/V11 (in Singapore) is a good buy for those who prefer Japanese to Korean makes. Internet features in Samsung P50s may be useful ... Read more
