The bad: Oversharpened images; off-axis viewing not as strong; blacks not as uniform as a plasma.
The bottom line: The Samsung LA40A650 is a very good all-rounder which particularly shines in HD, but is currently facing some talented competition.

Excellent picture quality, and outstandingly beautiful and elegant design of the panel.
Jan 9, 2009Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Excellent picture quality and design.
Cons: Sound quality from the speakers is normal. Slightly pricey.
Opinion:
Very detailed, realistic(life-like), fluid images and colours in terms of picure quality. Images are also presented with very good depth resulting in visual 3D effects.
Outstandingly beautiful and elegant Crystal Design with Rose black hue for the panel.
Good spec but bad quality
Oct 22, 2008Rating: 2 out of 10 (Terrible)
Pros: 100Hz, 5ms, elegant design, very solid remote control, connectivity
Cons: build quality is very poor
Opinion:
Very nice design. Love the remote control, looks very solid. Many connectivity. Advise: Check the product thoroughly, I think the product have highly chance of defects like many defective pixels (like stuck pixels).
Design vs, Substance
Aug 20, 2008Rating: 4 out of 10 (Mediocre)
Pros: Design
Cons: Poor picture quality, 100Hz unstable, HDMI interface unstable
Opinion:
Nice design concept with the red hue but feels hollow to the touch. Attractive pricing for a full high definition LCD promising too good to be true contrast ratio & other new features such as 100Hz. But price and quality goes hand-in-hand, which is evident in the 100Hz which promises smooth images but delivers jerky images. Another case is the simplicity promised by HDMI connection, evident when 2 or more HDMI products are connected, the LCD's AI is unable to detect the connected products, resulting in confusion rather than simplicity. Design & substance at a cheap price? Not going to happen!
