The bad: Fixed tabletop stand; no side HDMI; a bit pricey.
The bottom line: The PDP-428XG is a near-clone of the full-HD LX Kuro in most respects, except that it's priced a lot more affordably.

Eye-Popper
May 22, 2008Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: Spectacular Picture, Absolutely Top-notch Build Quality (better than most screens out there), Arguably the best 42" Screen Available,
Cons: The fixed base (which i traded for free with the 427's Swivel stand)
Opinion:
it took 4-5 Months of research to settle down for this purchase decision but surely one that i shall never regret. The Screen has turned out to be a mile above my expectations. I had been intimidated by all the conventional brand preferences like Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, Philips and Panasonic , however, one look at this screen will surely blow you away.
It may be an exaggeration but the quality of this screen churning out 720p video signals are more graceful than some "FULLHD" screens.
The Build quality on this baby is patent Japanese finish far far superior to its Korean Counterparts. Its too bad that Pioneer will not spearhead the Plasma market and forray into the LCD market as well but maybe that would also open new avenues to better LCDs as Sharp is getting involved.
A respectable plasma screen
Jan 21, 2008Rating: 8 out of 10 (Excellent)
Pros: Deep black, a very impressive contrast in normal dvd and Blu- ray play back.
Cons: Too black sometimes. dark movie sences sometimes go black. eg: in spider man 3's dark sence. Colour over saturated soemtimes. Pricey!
Opinion:
A very good plasma screen. respectable and a huge improvement from its older model. well done Pioneer!
