First Take
There used to be only Toshiba and its 68-series Regza when it comes to the promising 100Hz-scanning technology in Asia (more on the technicalities later). A lot more players have since jumped on the frame rate-doubling bandwagon and now we have others such as Sony and JVC in the foray. The latest onboard was long-time LCD advocate Sharp and its new LC-42A53M Aquos. But that's not all. The Japanese company is also bringing onboard Audyssey audio enhancement, probably another first in the flat-panel industry to beef up the nonchalant sound reproduction. ...

Value for money LCD TV
Aug 28, 2008Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Clear and Sharp picture - It is even better than some Full HD TV. The Black is really true black and the white are really white. With Standard Aspect Format, the black background of the TV screen will not be noticed by your eyes. Moreover, it is really flat screen, the picture seem to moving flatly and smoothly. When you compare this TV with other TV side by side on the electronics store, you will see what I mean,
Cons: The contrast is not strong enough.
Opinion:
A Truly Value for money LCD TV. LCD Panel is made in Japan. Picture is clear and Sharp. The black is truly black and the white is truly white unlike some LVD TV which is yellowish white. The user-friendly pull down menu is on the top left of the screen and allow you to watch the TV without much blockage.Moving picture is smooth and clear with no residual images. When you compare this TV with other TV side by side on the electronics store, you will see what I mean.
Don't buy!

Pros: PC input looks great
Cons: Black display is poor and colors are off
Opinion:
After succumbing to the hype of "Made in Japan", I bought a LCD tv instead of a plasma.
I regretted it when I saw the poor viewing angle and the poor color reproduction especially the black colors (it was grey and very pixelated). Also fast motion (ppl jumping across a roof in "Matrix" which is not that fast) is seen with obvious scan lines.
To top it off, I found 3 dead pixels. The retailer allowed me to exchange it but the new one has 1 dead pixel and shows a weird red halo when displaying white. I can almost hear the manufacturer laughing because their standard is 7 dead pixels which is a VERY low quality control (almost improbable). So much for made in Japan!
If you want a cheap tv with dead pixels right out of the box, get a Sharp!
For me, I will try to get a plasma or another brand of ... Read more
Refined, good response on normal SD images and HD content.
Dec 11, 2007Rating: 10 out of 10 (Perfect)
Pros: 100/120Hz, 4-msec response, optical sound output
Cons: sound needs more bass support
Opinion:
I think Sharp has finally got a product that really have the best of both worlds, with their outlook and their improve refresh rate, images are no longer blur especially sports scenes. The new fine-motion advanced mode brings the picture a step closer towards plasma motion. A worth investment to go for.
