The bad: LCD technology issues with black images; overkill if you're not an HD junkie.
The bottom line: The LA40F7 is a nice complement to Samsung's first Blu-ray player, the BD-P1000. Despite some issues with blacks, it shines with the right HD content and will be a future-proofed investment as more next-generation video comes on the market.
