The bad: Flickering static images; highly reflective screen; strong out-of-the-box red cast.
The bottom line: The Hitachi 42PD8900TA plasma TV is an incremental upgrade of its predecessor but remains an excellent all-rounder for audio and visual performance.

Hitachi defines Hi-Definition picture quality with great sound and looks to boot
Jun 28, 2006Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Very sharp picture, brilliant colors, rich sound, side inputs, remote swivel, sleek black look
Cons: Shows up the limitations of non-HD / poor quality VCD/DVD inputsl, 16:9 aspect
Opinion:
The better the quality of your DVDs/TV broadcast, the better you will enjoy this futuristic viewing experience. Neat remote swivel feature for couch potatoes, lots of menu options, great-looking addition to the family room! Convenient side inputs for Audio/ Video/ SVideo/ USB. Adjustable picture (Dynamic/ Natural/ Cinema) and sound (Movie/ Music/ Speech/ Favorite) modes. Interesting freeze-frame view with 12 consecutive frames.
not much improvement compare to the previous model 8800
