The good: Sleek and classy design; flexible speakers installation; first-class video performance; respectable sound quality; razor-sharp PC's text; highly-configurable user menu; good connectivity; free installation and tuning.

The bad: No value-added features like JPEG playback; non-backlit remote control; pricey.

The bottom line: The Pioneer PDP-436HDG makes up for its lack of value-added features and relatively high price with superb, kick-arse picture quality.

The best 42-43" plasma

Rating: 9 out of 10 (Spectacular)
Pros: Class-leading picture quality, surprisingly solid sound
Cons: Expensive, no-frills
Opinion:
I've owned this beauty for one and a half years now, and haven't regretted it for a moment. Yes, there are cheaper sets but if you're an enthusiast like myself, you appreciate the extra quality you get with the premium price. It also simply looks stunning just sitting there on its stand. Now superseded by the X07 and the incoming X08 models.
