User Review for Samsung LA40R71B (40-inch LCD)
Product Returned On 1st Day
Mar 8, 2007Rating: 3 out of 10 (Poor)
Pros: Attractive design & pricing
Cons: Unacceptable sound & picture quality
Opinion:
I bought it because the design is attractive and the pricing. I have surveyed many plasma and LCD screens and was set on the former but spouse decided that LCD was the choice most other people will make - a bad basis for decision making.
Sound problems noted after linking up the TV's audio output to my amp. The TV's sound appears faster than the sound generated from my amp - creating an echo feel. Also, TV sound was faster than TV video output - lips still in motion when speech has ended!!!
Only 1 SVideo input on the side panel but the User Guide describes 2 with 1 other behind the panel. I needed 2 - for satelite TV (back) and videocam (side).
I tried some PS Games - colour format for the Jap games was very distorted but not for US games (default settings???).
Picture quality not satisfactory - dark scenes and fast moving scene. Coming off a CRT TV, I was expecting some pix quality set-backs but all at home decided that it was not acceptable.
Returned the product on the earlier defects (echo sound & missing SVid input) and exchanged purchase for a plasma. Happy family again.
